Emilie Mai has always known that she wanted to be a dentist. When the Brandon native enrolled as a freshman at the University of Mississippi, she chose an allied health major on the pre-dentistry track, but she knew this was not the right fit for her. She looked at all the available majors and settled on chemistry, specifically forensic chemistry.

Hinds Community College awarded 1,270 credentials to 972 graduates in four ceremonies held over three days on May 8-10, which means many graduates earned more than one credential. Among the graduates, 448 graduated with honors, including 260 cum laude, 3.2 - 3.59 GPA out of 4.0; 152 magna cum laude, 3.60 - 3.99 GPA and 36 summa cum laude, with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Troy University is pleased to recognize students who completed the requirements for graduation during the Spring Semester and Term 4 of the 2021-2022 academic year. The Spring Semester includes graduates from the Troy, Ala., campus. University of the Cumberlands held commencement ceremonies recently to celebrate its newest graduates. Participants in this year's commencement ceremonies included graduates from 49 states and territories and the countries of Canada, India, Brazil, Spain, New Zealand, and Italy, among others. A total of 2,068 graduates received their degrees from Cumberlands that weekend.

Mississippi College honored the graduates of both summer and fall semesters in three campus ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 17. Dr. Blake Thompson, MC president, welcomed the graduates and gave opening remarks, while Dr. Tommy Leavelle, retired professor in the Department of Mathematics at MC and the 2020-21 Distinguished Professor of the Year, gave the Commencement Address. Thompson reiterated MC's theme, "Rise Up," for the 2021-22 Academic Year, inviting the MC Family to make this a year built on the "good work" God calls us all to do. The encouragement taken from Nehemiah 2:18 illustrates that, although situations can change at a moment's notice, God will strengthen our hands.
