Hinds Community College "H" installed on new Health Sciences Complex
Pearl, MS (08/07/2026) — A 100-foot crane lifted a white and maroon, 12-foot-tall Hinds Community College "H" about 58 feet in the air Thursday as crews worked to install signage on the exterior of the new Rankin Campus Health Sciences Complex (HSC).
The installation by Budget Signs of Jackson was paused for a couple of hours after downpours, thunder and lightning made it unsafe for the workers to continue. The signs are up just in time for the start of classes on Aug. 10.
For several weeks the college has been moving faculty, staff, furniture, hospital beds, equipment and more into the modern, four story, 160,000-square-foot building across from the Muse Center in Pearl. The $64 million project was made possible with local, state and federal resources. The long-time Nursing Allied Health Campus in Jackson is now closed.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the HSC is scheduled for Oct. 7.
